September meeting - Thursday 25th. Subject - Foraging
We are a group of like-minded folk who have a desire to find out and discuss the how and why of things in everyday life. You don't need any scientific knowledge, just a curious mind. We meet on the 4th Thursday of the month at the Arts Centre, Eight Acre Lane.
Val Mister is the convenor for this group and you can email her by clicking on the link underlined in blue above if you need any more information.

After a hiatus during the Covid years, the group restarted in January 2024, at the Arts Centre in Wellington, which is a great venue with good audio-visual equipment.
Members don’t need to have a scientific background, just an interest in learning????? So far this year we have had presentations / discussions on: A Bronze Age settlement; a talk on sacred geometry; a Royal Institution lecture on food; talks on osteo archaeology and how Covid 19 changed medicine; a visit to The Woolly Shepherd (a local business who make acoustic clouds); a talk on the Geology of Kilve and another on local Water Guardians. We also ventured out on a local fungi foray.
Hardly anyone in the group has a science background, but all are gently encouraged to take part by presenting a subject. It doesn’t have to be for a whole session – we recently had an afternoon of short, 10 minute talks, including a piece on Rachel Carson, (who wrote silent Spring) and another on Intestinal Worms. Those who feel they don’t know enough on any subject can just find a TED, (Technology, Entertainment, Design), talk on line, or offer suggestions that others might be willing to present. This gives an opportunity for everyone to feel involved and making a contribution.
We meet on the 4th Thursday of each month, (other than august and December), from 1.30 to 3.30 in The Arts Centre, Eight Acre Lane. We’d love to see you there.
