We are a group of enthusiasts who are currently exploring the history of Wellington and the surrounding area to help us understand how folk lived here in the past and how they shaped the way we live today. Our searches may take us beyond our locality and who know what we will discover? It's an exciting journey once you board the 'time train' so why not join us.
At the moment we are meeting on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 1.30pm in the Arts Centre.
Lesley and Tina are the convenors for this group so please contact them by clicking on the convenor's name above underlined in blue if you need more information or wish to join the group.
We had an encouraging first meeting on Wednesday 29th October where 30 eager historians met at the Arts Centre to discuss how they envisioned the group unfolding and all put forward their preferences and ideas for the future programme. We now have plans for visits to places of historical renown, talks from outside speakers & presentations on various popular topics such as famous people, industrial and social history. We are a very large group at the moment so have needed to open a waiting list.
